In 1751, the Pennsylvania State Assembly called for the forging of a bell to commemorate William Penn's original charter of the state. They included instructions requiring that a Scripture verse be included on the bell. The verse is Leviticus 25:10, "Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof."  Today, as we consider the Liberty Bell, we give thanks for godly men and women who founded our nation with the passionate belief that God was leading their efforts. And, we give thanks for the profound freedoms we enjoy because of their dedication and sacrifice.
